Simple Garden Fencing

Feathered Edge Panels with tanalised boards, these can be stained or painted if you so wish. Concrete Fence Posts and Concrete Gravel boards and the most common option. However Concrete Fence posts can be swapped for wooden ones or even metal ones. Gravel boards are not essential, panels can be run down to the ground level.

Feather Edge Fencing
The most popular type of fencing that we install is fairly simple and traditional in style.

What is Feather Edge Fencing

Feather Edge Panels are common in Garden Fencing designs , its features are:

  • Overlapping vertical boards supported by horizontal battens on the reverse
  • Each board is tapered with a thicker edge and a thinner edge
  • Durable build that can cope well with seasonal movement (expansion/contraction)
  • Offers privacy and security

It’s worth bearing in mind that concrete or metal Fence posts last much longer than the average wooden post. The same will apply to panels. Although Tanalised boards should last for at least 10 years before retreating is needed, keeping them up off the ground will help to lengthen their lives.

Types of Gravel boards

Feather Edge
Garden fencing with stonework effect Gravel boards and brick borders

Gravel boards can be made from wood or Concrete, vinyl or even metal in certain cases.  In this instance, we used concrete gravel boards in conjunction with concrete posts.  This option is a truly strong and durable solution which should last a lifetime, barring freak accidents.  Most gravel boards are plain in look but here the homeowner opted for a moulded stone look.  These boards give an impression of natural stone or blockwork.

As you can see the whole look pulls together very nicely making a strong and private boundary for any property.   Homeowners can then choose to plant up borders to soften the look or alternatively, they can use an anti-weed membrane and cover it with decorative aggregates, such as slate chips or pebbles.
